The Future of Work – With 22nd Century Vision

The Future of Work: With 22nd Century Vision – I’ve spent years dabbling in smart glasses and even own the Apple Vision Pro for the past two years, though it never quite found a daily professional niche for me. I’ve tried plenty of what’s already out there in terms of Smart Glasses, always curious, always testing, but never quite ready to commit to living in them.

Now, with the Even Realities G2, I’m taking a different kind of leap: a discreet, glasses-first, AI-powered heads-up display designed to sit comfortably in my line of sight as I move through the organized chaos of a school day. What has me intrigued is the G2’s glanceable HUD, its Teleprompt for staying on script without looking down, real-time translation, live transcription and note capture, and the promise of ambient AI prompts that surface what matters when it matters, without turning my face into a camera rig. (Think an in-the-moment life cheat sheet that privately displays meanings of acronyms and jargon, or stats & facts one might need to know within the context of a realtime convo.)

At the very least, I’m curious what it feels like to walk through a principal’s day on Staten Island with a subtle Terminator-2-style HUD quietly whispering reminders, translations, and prompts instead of buzzing in my pocket. I’ll be returning with an update in the next month to share how it has been living in this optical future as a school leader and share: what’s actually helpful, what’s hype, and what still feels like a beta test strapped to your face!
